With US $7.5 million in prize money, the tournament is the richest on The European Tour, while those finishing in the top 15 on The Race to Dubai will also split the US $7.5 million Bonus Pool.
Over four days, with no cut, all 60 players will compete for the title that has captured the imagination of the leading players in the world game.
The players will tee off on the spectacular Earth course. Designed by Greg Norman, Earth is one of two courses, along with Fire, that anchor the neighbourhoods in Jumeirah Golf Estates.
With millions of golf fans around the world watching, both on television and on the course, the 2009 Dubai World Championship shifted the epicentre of golf towards Dubai — and was one of the most memorable sporting events of the year.
